A
Fellow
of Trinity College of Music, London (FTCL in Violin Performance),
Yong Chee Ong also holds several other diplomas in music, performing
and teaching.
These
are namely, the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, London,
in Violin Performing (LRSM), Licentiate of the Guildhall School
of Music and Drama, London, in Violin Performing (LGSMD), Diploma
in Music from LaSalle College of the Arts, Singapore (Dip.Mus) and
a Diploma of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music,
London, in Violin Teaching (Dip.ABRSM). |
In
1992 and 1995, Yong Chee Ong represented Singapore in the Asian
Youth Orchestra: an orchestra founded by the late legendary violinist,
Sir Yehudi Menuhin. In 1995, the orchestra performed in honour of
the United Nations 50th Anniversary. On the itinerary for the concert
tour were performances in the White House, Washington D.C, USA and
United Nations Headquarters in New York City. The last concert was
performed at the Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, California.
Yong Chee
Ong worked and performed under world renowned conductors such as
the late legendary Sergui Comissiona, Lukas Foss and David Alan
Miller in concert tours to Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, major
cities across Japan and United States of America. He was interviewed
by the American Broadcasting Corporation in the city of New York,
USA for his involvement with the Orchestra in 1995.
In the
year 2004, Yong Chee Ong was interviewed by the Radio Television
Hong Kong along with some of the Singapore Alumni of the Asian Youth
Orchestra for the production of the 15th Anniversary documentary
which was broadcasted in Hong Kong.
Yong Chee
Ong also represented Singapore in the ASEAN Youth Music Workshop
and Orchestra in Brunei Darussalam in 1993. In 1996, he was a 1st
violinist of the Vienna Youth Symphony Orchestra in Austria.
With 20
years of teaching experience under his belt, Yong Chee Ong has produced
a handful of ABRSM high scorers over the years. His students have
been invited to perform in the annual high scorer's concert organized
by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

Mew
Yung Tsing holds a BA(Hons) in Music from the Kingston University,
London and several other diplomas in music and piano teaching.
These
are namely the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, London,
in Piano Teaching (LRSM), Diploma of Higher Education with
Commendation (Music), Kingston University, London, Diploma
in Music with Distinction from LaSalle College of the Arts,
Singapore (Dip.Mus) and a Diploma of the Associated Board
of the Royal Schools of Music, London, in Piano Teaching (Dip.ABRSM) |
A
mother of two, Mew Yung Tsing has been teaching piano for
more than 15 years. She is very popular with students of all
ages and levels. Many of her students started their first
note on the piano with her and eventually attained their diploma
levels in piano performing under her tutelage.
Mew Yung Tsing holds
on strongly to the belief and conviction that a true and honest
teacher must always lead by example. Hence, despite the many
years of teaching, she still practices her students' repertoires
with utmost honesty and diligence, never for once, belittled
simple pieces despite her obvious competence as a pianist.
Mew Yung Tsing's
unwavering conviction and uncompromising stand in this principle
sets the high standard of teaching in the Fisherman Music
School. |
