Ng
Wei Ping holds a BA(First-Class Honors) in Music from the Nanyang
Academy of Fine Arts (Validated by University of Wales) and was
presented the best graduate award in the year 2008. Other than this
First-Class Honors degree, Wei Ping also holds a Bachelor of Arts
(Chinese Studies and Chinese Language) from the National University
of Singapore and a Diploma in Violin Performing (Dip.ABRSM) from
the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
Ng
Wei Ping was the concertmaster of the NAFA Symphony Orchestra and
the NUS Symphony Orchestra (NUSSO). He performed with the NUSSO
in Sydney Opera House in 2002 and participated in the Aberdeen International
Music Festival in August 2005. In June 2008, he led NAFA Symphony
Orchestra for a two week concert tour in Germany and participated
in the Bötersheim Festival organised by Music Director of Hamburg
Arts Festival, Professor Prosper C. Otto.
As
a chamber musician, he is the founding member of the Syzygy String
Quartet; which performs regularly at the NAFA Lee Foundation Theatre.
He is also the violinist of the NAFA piano trios which took part
in the International Society for Music Education, World Conference
in the year 2006. Wei Ping is also a founding member of the Swing
Band conducted by Volker Hartung, performing jazz and film music
of the 1920s and 30s in local arts scene. He has also recently joined
The Philharmonic Orchestra(TPO).
Ng
Wei Ping was invited by Dr Thomas Markus Manhart to lead the Artyfakt
Consort, performing German Baroque Music in October 2005, German
and French sacred music in December 2005 at Kampong Kapor Methodist
Church. He was the leader of the ensemble when the Opera Studio
launched the performance of Handel’s Opera – “Acis
and Galatea” on 20th & 21st October 2007, and Pergolesi’s
Opera – ‘La Serva Padrona’ on 23 and 24 Feb 2008
at National Arts Museum.
As
a teacher, Ng Wei Ping is passionate, dedicated and very experienced.
He was a teaching assistant at Red Swastika Primary School in 1999,
violin teacher at the Emmanuel Music School in 2000 and also violin
teaching assistant at Fu Chun Primary School. In December 2005,
he prepared students for the SYF string ensemble competition. In
2006, he was being assigned as the violin instructor of Meridian
Primary School. During the December vacation in 2006, he was tasked
to organize a one day music camp for the students and it was very
well received by the kids and their parents.
